We are now offering alt2su as an online group, in addition to our in-person groups. People are welcome to attend either or both if they choose. The online meetings will be held on the Zoom platform (For details about how to use zoom click here).

Online groups run every Monday night 6:30 - 8pm - Zoom link posted below. 

Below is an overview of what the online group will look like, and some boundaries of accessing the online space. We ask that everyone read through it before attending the online Zoom.

Online Group Information and Boundaries​

• There are two peers that facilitate each group.

• Groups start on time so please login at least 5 minutes before they begin.

• As people may disclose personal experiences during the group, we ask that everyone attending wear headphones or be in a room alone. This is to protect confidentiality by ensuring that no one outside of the group can hear what is being said. 

• To begin the group, one of the facilitators will go over the Alternatives to Suicide Group Charter. Created by the Wildflower Alliance, the charter lays out the principles and guidelines of running Alternatives to Suicide support groups. By attending the group, we all agree to uphold the values of the alt2su charter. 

• After the charter, facilitators will ask each person to introduce themself (name and pronouns). You don't have to use the name and pronouns that you are usually known by. 

• Just as we believe people have the right to choose whether to share their usual name, we believe people also have the right to know/choose who they are sharing their story with - for that reason we ask that everyone have their camera on while we do introductions.

• Everyone (including the facilitators) will keep their microphones muted when someone else is speaking. This is very important as background noise may be disruptive to others in the group.

• Group runs for 90 minutes and facilitators will give time reminders throughout.
