Belong Program

 

The Brook RED team are all peer workers who have experienced living with and working through mental health concerns. All trainers identify as part of the LGBTQIAP+ community. We are welcoming and responsive to people’s needs, identities, and perspectives. We celebrate bodies, genders, sexualities, and cultures in all their diversity. 

 

Brook RED offers Belong Training and Consultancy for individuals and organisations. 

 

Consultancy

We draw from our lived experience as well as our knowledge around LGBTQIAP+ issues to deliver consultancy around best practice when working with LGBTQIAP+ people and also creating an affirming professional environment for your team.

We can offer consultancy in the following areas:

• Ensuring LGBTQIAP+ inclusivity in program development

• Renewing forms and documents to ensure they are LGBTQIAP+ inclusive

• Creating an affirming professional environment

• Assisting with the development of educational and training materials

• Facilitate group or one on one conversations to increase confidence and knowledge for your workplace / employees

For those who have attended Belong Training, we are also able to organise a follow up session to address any specific areas that you wish to know more about.

Training

​

Belong Training is an award winning training program designed to increase capacity to create affirming spaces and practice when supporting and working with LGBTQIAP+ people. We hope to fill knowledge gaps and increase the confidence and skill of people to work with members of the LGBTQIAP+ community.

​

The training is 4.5 hours long and the date and location of the training is arranged in collaboration with the organisation. The training covers Pronouns, Gender, Sexuality, Intersex People, Health Outcomes and Creating an Affirming Environment and Practice

Belong is funded by the Brisbane South Primary Health Network (BSPHN) and is available at no cost for organisations and individuals who are living, working and volunteering in the BSPHN area. Please note that funded spots are limited and that there is a cost for this training outside of those funded spots.
